Chartered Accountants

About

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

History

Founded by Rabindra Singh Veriah in 1987, Rabin & Associates began as a meagre audit upstart among a sea of established “Big Eight” accounting firms in Kuala Lumpur.

Our first two decades were marked by slow and steady growth of our client base as we set out to establish ourselves as the go-to firm for our clients’ most complex financial problems. Recognising the value of providing full-service advice to clients, from day one we sought to develop a range of complementary practices, like tax and corporate advisory.

Client needs led us to expand our offices in 1995, and the volume of work we were handling fueled exponential growth in the number of staff at the firm in the early 2000s. That growth included a significant expansion of the practices we offered to clients via our affiliate, Real Time Group, including accounting & finance, company formation, corporate secretarial, expatriate advisory, license applications and HR & payroll.

In the nearly three decades since, we’ve built on that platform to provide advice to clients locally and around the world on their most important matters. Our core values reflect the ideals of our history, and we remain committed to providing excellent professionalism and unrivalled client service in all our work.

director

Jeyamalar Armugam

A fellow member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Jeya began her career in BDO Malaysia as an external auditor.

Her subsequent and more significant role was at PwC Malaysia which spanned almost a decade. Her time at PwC Malaysia paved the way for her to blossom into a seasoned external auditor with a deep understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal controls necessary to provide assurance to businesses across a wide range of industries including oil & gas, consumer products, trading, construction and engineering.

Post PwC Malaysia, she briefly left public practice for General Electric to undertake a corporate finance role in its power generation division. This helped reinforce her articulation of commercial and financial risks, development of annual blueprints, operating plans and quarterly estimates for the various portfolio companies.

Known for her grit and relentless technical pursuit for excellence in the world of audit, Jeya regularly conducts audit training courses and technical consulting sessions on complex accounting matters for the wider public.

Socially, Jeya is fond of globetrotting and immersing herself in diverse cultures. This in turn has allowed her to broaden her perspectives particularly that of empathy — the ability to see things from different points of view and evaluate situations not as an outsider but as a local community member which undoubtedly has served and continues to serve her well in the world of professional services.
